Porch lights, dodgy red-tops and lockouts

So the big stories either side of the pond last week were the not guilty verdict for Casey Anthony on the murder of her daughter Caylee and the closure of the News of the World.  The latter continues to gather pace and I’m sure we’ve not heard the last of the Anthony case, although please no more self-ingratiating Facebook campaigns (the only interesting things about it was the Facebook event attendee counter breaking at 1 million).

The big news this week has to be, with two days left until the first game of the season (OK only exhibition matches), what will happen in the 4-month saga of the NFL lockout.  My guess is that it’ll all be ironed out in the next day or so and no league games will be impacted, but in the meantime it’s given Funny or Die the opportunity to parody Field of Dreams.  They’ve not done a star-studded spot in a while and this one has more than most…

I guess if the lockout does actually continue we’ll have a real life version of The Replacements on the cards.  It couldn’t be any worse than the movie.
